The year 2020 saw a huge rise in demand for wearables and accessories, especially smart watches/wearables with health monitoring features for obvious reasons. As per IDC Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker, global shipments of wearable devices reached 153.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2020 (4Q20), a YOY increase of 27.2 percent. Naturally, there were quite a few smart band variants that made way in to the market and still continue to do so, one of them being the HUAWEI Band 6

We got hold of the HUAWEI Band 6, which the brand terms as “more than a smart band”. Let’s see and find out if it really is more than a smart band.

Display

HUAWEI Band 6 is Huawei’s first band to include a 1.47-inch big AMOLED display, which is 148% larger than that of HUAWEI Band 4. In comparison to Band4, the screen to body ratio has also seen an improvement of close to 64%. Surprisingly enough this is quite easy to operate with easy swipes across all directions on the screen. With more icons fitting the screen due to its 1.47-inch display, this definitely gives an edge over other variants available in the market. The Huawei Band 6 looks more like a smartwatch, due to its display and it surely does look like a device for more than fitness tracking. It is a comfortable wear being totally light-weight with thin straps that don’t bother.

All-day SpO2 Monitoring

This by far is the best feature of the Huawei Band 6 and it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, considering the havoc the pandemic has caused. By now we are all aware of how critical this piece of information is in determining an individual’s health. Interestingly Huawei had released this feature in 2019 for one of its wearable devices which had to be activated manually. However, with Huawei Band 6 comes the TruSeenTM 4.0 and new smart power saving algorithm tech, enabling the device to support all day continuous monitoring of SpO2. It monitors your health continuously, raising necessary alarms in case of fluctuation in blood oxygen level, especially when it falls. Needless to say, this is an extremely important inclusion that Huawei Band 6 sports among other health monitoring features like heart rate monitoring 24/7, stress monitoring, scientific sleep tracking etc.

Battery Life –

Another talking point of the Huawei Band 6 has to be its battery life. On a single charge the battery life can go upto 2 weeks with moderate usage. On heavy usage it can last upto 10 odd hours which is incredible. This is a very lightweight and slim looking device with 180mAh battery and excellent power efficiency.
