AI & Sustainability Skills Highlighted in Zayed University’s 3rd Hackathon

Zayed University (ZU) has announced the launch of its highly anticipated 3rd Annual Digital Transformation Hackathon, coinciding with the UAE’s Month of Innovation. This year’s focus on AI & Sustainability aims to cultivate essential career skills among students while addressing pressing global issues.

Taking place at the NextGen Center on Zayed University’s Dubai Campus from February 21st to 22nd, the event brings together students from ZU, the American University of Sharjah, Khalifa University, and University of Dubai. Through workshops and mentorship sessions, participants will delve into various technological facets, fostering innovation and the practical application of ideas.

Crafted in collaboration with key entities such as the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and First Abu Dhabi Bank, the challenges encompass blockchain, big data, and augmented reality. These initiatives aim to inspire the next generation to pursue careers driving sustainable and technologically advanced futures, aligning with the UAE Centennial 2071 vision.

Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, emphasized the importance of nurturing young Emiratis for the nation’s digital economy, reflecting Dubai’s aspirations to become a global digital hub.

Similarly, Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of Remote Sensing Department at Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, highlighted the event’s significance in fostering innovation and addressing critical environmental issues through remote sensing technologies.

Dr. Fatma Taher, Director of the NextGen Center at Zayed University, expressed delight in the increased student participation, underscoring the event’s role in shaping a future marked by innovation and sustainability.
