Aqdar Celebrates Safer Internet Day 2024 with Awareness Campaign

The Khalifa Empowerment Programme (Aqdar) and its partners are celebrating Safer Internet Day 2024 with a diverse lineup of activities aimed at promoting digital safety and awareness under the theme “Be Safe Digitally”. The initiative, announced during a press conference held in collaboration with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, brings together representatives from various public and private sector organizations.

Key participants in organizing and sponsoring the Safer Internet Day events include the Ministry of Education, Cyber Security Council, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, Emirates Schools Establishment, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, and several others. The activities, scheduled for February each year, feature a range of initiatives such as virtual sessions, workshops, cultural competitions, and media awareness campaigns disseminated through partners’ platforms and local media channels, accompanied by a unified social media hashtag.

Dr. Ibrahim Al Dabal, Director of the Khalifa Empowerment Programme, highlighted the significance of these annual events in promoting positive citizenship and ensuring a secure digital environment in alignment with the UAE government’s vision for enhancing technical services and fostering a culture of responsible digital usage.

Chairman of the Cyber Security Council, Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, emphasized the importance of educating youth and children about safe internet practices, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to cybersecurity and awareness programs. Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director General of WAM, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting initiatives promoting safe digital technology usage, emphasizing the crucial role of responsible media in educating the public.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, expressed her satisfaction with participating in Safer Internet Day, emphasizing the union’s ongoing national efforts to enhance digital quality of life.
