Bentley Systems appoints Allen Li as General Manager, China

Bentley Systems, an infrastructure engineering software company, has announced the appointment of Allen Li as the General Manager for China. In his new role, Li will report to Chief Revenue Officer Brock Ballard. Li brings with him extensive experience from his executive career at enterprise software leader SAP, where he served as the Chief Operating Officer for China. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a master’s in Technology Management from Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as an Executive MBA from the University of Mannheim Business School.

While Bentley Systems has already established a strong presence in major design institutes and owner organizations with its infrastructure engineering offerings, the company is actively pursuing growth opportunities as a platform for software development and distribution by Chinese entities. As the General Manager for China, Li will have full responsibility for Bentley’s business operations in the country, including existing joint ventures and potential future partnerships aimed at providing localized products based on Bentley technology.

Nicholas Cumins, Bentley’s Chief Operating Officer, highlighted China’s unique position in terms of the scale and digital advancement of its infrastructure engineering, emphasizing the need for a distinct approach to market strategies. He expressed a warm welcome to Allen Li in his new role, emphasizing Li’s experience in “regionalizing” enterprise software in China and its importance for Bentley’s future plans in the country.

Allen Li expressed his admiration for Bentley’s product-market fit and its technology leadership in infrastructure engineering in China thus far. He expressed his enthusiasm for leading Bentley in the next phase of growth, leveraging local resources and strategic partnerships to further strengthen Bentley’s position in the Chinese market.
