Cloud Attacks Skyrocket 154%, Businesses Scramble for Defense

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP) has released its 2024 Cloud Security Report, revealing a stark increase in cloud security incidents. The report shows a jump from 24% in 2023 to 61% in 2024, indicating a 154% surge, underscoring the growing complexity and frequency of cloud threats.

According to the latest survey findings, there’s a troubling trend: while most organizations prioritize threat detection and monitoring, only a mere 21% focus on prevention. This is concerning given the challenges posed by rapid technological advancements, such as the speed of DevOps and cloud application deployment.

The survey highlights a concerning reality: despite the rise in cloud attacks, only 4% of organizations claim they can easily and swiftly mitigate risks, with 96% expressing concern about their ability to handle such risks. Furthermore, 91% are worried about the increase in sophisticated cyber threats that evade conventional security tools.

Itai Greenberg, Chief Strategy Officer at Check Point Software Technologies, stresses the need for organizations to shift towards AI-powered threat prevention measures and collaborative security operations to proactively tackle emerging threats.

– Cloud Incidents Surge: A 154% increase in cloud security incidents compared to the previous year, with 61% of organizations experiencing significant disruptions.

– Integration Challenges: 54% of respondents struggle with consistent regulatory standards across multi-cloud environments, while 49% face difficulties integrating cloud services into legacy systems.
