Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) has announced an expansion of its data protection lineup, featuring appliances, software, and as-a-Service options aimed at bolstering cyber resilience amidst escalating cyberattacks.

Through advancements spanning the Dell Data Protection suite, the company is empowering customers to construct a contemporary and robust framework to safeguard data across on-premises environments, public clouds, and the edge. These innovations come in response to findings from the 2024 Dell Global Data Protection Index (GDPI) survey, revealing that 75% of organizations feel their current data protection measures are insufficient against ransomware threats. Furthermore, nearly 70% lack confidence in their ability to effectively recover from a cyberattack.

Arthur Lewis, President of Infrastructure Solutions Group at Dell Technologies, emphasized the dual challenge and opportunity posed by the proliferation of data and generative AI (GenAI). While AI presents avenues for process optimization and innovation, it also amplifies the risk of cyberattacks, particularly with the increasing value of trained models. New additions to Dell’s offerings include the Dell PowerProtect Data Domain DD9410 and DD9910 systems, tailored for large enterprises. These systems promise enhanced performance, security, efficiency, and scalability, with notable features such as faster backups and restores, reduced power consumption, and extensive deduplication capabilities. Phil Goodwin, Research Vice President at IDC, commended Dell’s data protection solutions for supporting modernization efforts and anticipates the latest PowerProtect Data Domain appliances to remain pivotal in critical data protection and cyber recovery infrastructures.

The State of Michigan, a long-time user of PowerProtect Data Domain appliances, expressed confidence in the latest generation’s ability to bolster data protection performance and security.

Moreover, Dell’s collaboration with partners like Commvault underscores the shared commitment to fortifying cyber resilience against AI-driven threats. Sanjay Mirchandani, President and CEO of Commvault, highlighted the integration between Commvault’s Cloud platform and Dell’s PowerProtect Data Domain appliances, enabling comprehensive cyber resilience, data security, and rapid recovery capabilities.

Dell is also introducing Dell APEX Backup Services AI, an integrated GenAI assistant for backup and recovery, aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency. This offering allows users to request custom reports, troubleshoot errors, and receive intelligent recommendations tailored to their environments.

Furthermore, Storage Direct Protection in Dell PowerProtect Data Manager integrates seamlessly with Dell PowerMax enterprise storage, facilitating swift, efficient, and secure backup and recovery operations. This feature offers fast backup and recovery speeds, efficient data protection, and centralized management, with support for multicloud environments.
