Gitex 2022 Day 4: Investment vehicles, cybersecurity arrangements and more

Gitex 2022 saw its day 4 end on October 13, 2022. The event saw many tech exhibitions supporting innovations to deals and partnerships being formed which are bringing companies and entities closer to their goals of sustainable digital transformation.

Sharjah pavilion saw VIP visitors 

The Sharjah Pavillion at Gitex saw several senior members from government entities visit their exhibition. 

The VIPs were led by His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, Her Excellency Ohood Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, and His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, CEO of the real estate sector in Sharjah Asset Management, the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah.

The exhibition presented technologies helping the government in the digital transformation of the emirate. 

His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, led a delegation from the Sharjah Police to the pavilion. He praised the rapid digital transformation Sharjah has undergone using the most cutting-edge technology available, noting that 90% of the Sharjah Police has been digitised.

Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy announces a global competition for startups

Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has launched a prestigious international competition designed to inspire and attract innovative solutions that utilise advanced digital technologies and create a major economic and social impact.

The Challenge is open to startups from the UAE and around the world, according to Khalid Al Jarwan, Executive Director of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. He also noted that applications would be accepted “very soon,” and that the winners would be announced at the upcoming Expand North Star summit in Dubai the following year.

e& investment company, e& capital to be powered by $250 million VC fund

e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group) announced its plan for e& capital, an investment pillar for the group at Gitex 2022. 

Through its $250 million, e& capital unveiled the most recent deals and insights into how it intends to further its goals of becoming a global technology and investment conglomerate (VC fund). By making bigger investments at the development stage outside of its VC fund, e& capital will help the tech sector develop even further.

UAE Cyber Security Council and CPX Holding partner together

The UAE government’s Cyber Security Council signed a strategic partnership with CPX Holding, a provider of digital-first cybersecurity solutions and services, to facilitate quick and coordinated responses to future cyber incidents in the UAE.

His Excellency Dr Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, the UAE government’s head of cyber security, and Khaled Al Melhi, the CEO of CPX, signed the contract at GITEX Global.
