In a groundbreaking move, the Tanzania Institute for Education (TIE) has partnered with Snapplify (www.Snapplify.com), a prominent digital content provider, to introduce the Tanzania eLibrary Project. This innovative venture seeks to transform the accessibility and caliber of educational materials for students throughout Tanzania over the next three years.

The Tanzania eLibrary Project involves the extensive implementation of Snapplify’s state-of-the-art eLibrary platform across all schools in Tanzania. Additionally, over 195,000 teachers and 11.2 million students will receive personalized Snapplify accounts, streamlining access to a diverse array of educational resources from various partner platforms.

Through this collaboration, TIE aims to afford Tanzanian students unprecedented access to educational resources. Boasting an extensive collection of over 50,000 digital library books and TIE-prescribed content, students will now enjoy uninterrupted access to a wealth of educational materials, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

A standout feature of the Snapplify platform, known as Engage, is its inclusivity. The platform ensures 24/7 availability, meeting the needs of students in even the most remote and rural areas. Furthermore, the content can be accessed offline after downloading, enabling students to utilize resources on various devices, including mobile phones, overcoming technological infrastructure limitations.

The eLibrary platform’s distinctive characteristic lies in its commitment to diversity and inclusivity, a recognition echoed by UNESCO, which awarded Snapplify the King Sejong Literacy award for 2023. The platform offers an extensive collection of titles in various African languages, supporting Tanzanian publishers and authors. By embracing indigenous literature and promoting local voices, TIE and Snapplify aim to instill cultural pride and identity among Tanzanian students.

The Government Partnership Manager at Snapplify expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with TIE aligns with our shared vision of leveraging technology to democratize access to education. By providing students with a comprehensive digital learning ecosystem, we hope to inspire a love for learning and encourage academic excellence among Tanzanian youth.”
