I’ve been playing with the HONOR Magic4 Pro for the past three weeks, and I’ve had it in my hands full time during that time, using it as my personal handset.

The device comes with high-end hardware, a great camera and a truly amazing charging speed, in addition to key features such as 5G and Google services.

In case you weren’t aware, the newly independent Honor spit off from Huawei last year, and this is their first legitimate flagship device since then.

Without further ado, let’s dive right into the detailed review of the HONOR Magic4 Pro to find out if it is indeed jam-packed with enough cutting-edge features and hardware to be a worthwhile investment.

What’s in the box?

I received the Honor Magic4 Pro in a dark cardboard box, which contained the smartphone, a silicon cover, the USB C cable, and a 100W power supply, as well as the SIM card needle.

Display:

The one I have right now is in cyan color. The glass back panel has a beautiful somewhat pearlescent finish, slim screen margins, and slightly more pronounced curves than any other flagship android device.

A large pill-shaped camera cluster with a dedicated depth-sensing camera for biometric security is positioned on the front of the device. It features a 12-megapixel selfie camera.

The HONOR Magic4 Pro has the GPU Turbo X technology that it claims will improve gaming performance. Despite the fact that I don’t play many mobile games, the few that I did play ran smoothly. Therefore, you don’t have to be a gamer to enjoy the Magic4 Pro’s display.

The Honor Magic4 Pro display is one of the largest on the market right now, measuring 6.818 inches with 2,848 x 1,312 resolution and a thin metal frame between the front and rear layers of glass.

Camera:

The HONOR Magic4 Pro might rank as one of the best smartphones if we only consider its cameras, and particularly its optical and digitally enhanced zoom features.

A 50-megapixel sensor and an f/1.8 aperture lens are used in the primary camera, and a 50-megapixel sensor and an f/2.2 aperture lens are used in the ultra-wide camera, and a 3.5x optical zoom is used in the periscope telephoto camera.

Aperture, Pro, Slow-mo, Panorama, Time-lapse, Stickers, Documents, Super Macro, Multi-Video, High-Res, and Story are some of the shooting modes available. Other modes include Photo, Portrait, Night, Video, Movie, and Aperture.

The Magic 4 Pro includes two additional cameras on the front. The first, with a 12MP sensor, is the one that actually takes images. A second ToF sensor is utilized to unlock the phone using facial recognition as well as for portrait and other effects.

Performance and Specifications:

The newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU powers my phone, which has 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. This screen boasts every important feature you might want in a premium display, including quad HD+ resolution, up to 120-hertz refresh rate, and battery-saving LTPO technology to drop down to as little as 10 hertz when you’re not swiping or scrolling.

AI Privacy Call:

The AI privacy call feature, which is intended to enhance privacy by merely altering the volume of the microphone based on the location and proximity of your head, maybe the most intriguing audio feature. It strikes me as an illustration of creative thinking in a sometimes ignored area.

Multitasking Setup:

The multitasking setup in Magic’s UI is perhaps my favorite feature. From here, you can summon windowed versions of apps and alter, enlarge, or collapse them into tiny icons.

Biometrics and Security:

This phone also has a fantastic biometrics system that is incredibly reliable. This function allows you to hide handling notification content until the phone detects your face. The Qualcomm 3D Sonic Gen 2 sensor is used by the in-screen fingerprint scanner to speed up unlocking.

The privacy measures that Honor adds on top of Android’s default security layer demonstrate how seriously it takes security. Apps, folders, files, photos, movies, passwords, and a lot more can all be locked away. Both fingerprint and facial data can be used to access all of those.

Battery:

This phone’s battery life is simultaneously absolutely incredible. The Magic 4 Pro’s 4600mAh battery allows it to last all day, but not much longer.

The good news is that the charging goes really quickly. The phone is the quickest wireless charging phone available right now because it offers 100W charging speeds for both wired and wireless charging.

Software:

There are numerous customization possibilities available with the HONOR Magic 4 Pro OS. You may choose from a large variety of themes, always-on display styles, lock screens, icons, and even between a straightforward Home screen layout and one that is based on an app drawer.

The majority of the inherent features of Android 12 and Android 11 are also available. The Privacy Dashboard, granular app permissions, notification bubbles, a green dot indicating whether an app is utilizing the camera or microphone, etc. are all available to you.

Price and Availability:

The most recent HONOR Magic4 Pro is available for purchase in the UAE for AED 3999 from the HONOR Online Store, Sharaf DG, Jumbo, Emax, Carrefour, and other retail locations.
